The South African National Military Veterans Association (SANMVA) in Limpopo announces the official kick-start of their database update and verification process for their Military Veterans beneficiaries.
This comes after the current Military Veterans Act, 2011 was passed by Parliament on August 18, partly to clearly define available benefits for military veterans and their dependants.
SANMVA provincial chairperson Sawel Mabotja said for expediency, the registration and verification process was arranged by the Department of Defence and Military Veterans to take place in two different venues.
The first phase of registration and verification took place yesterday in Polokwane at the old Pietersburg Commando building. In Vhembe region registration and verification starts tomorrow morning at 15 South African Infantry in Thohoyandou.
Mabotja said the announcement affected direct members and dependants of SANMVA Limpopo. In the event that the actual member had died on, then direct family dependants were urged to attend these important meetings. A bona-fide dependant was defined either as a child or a marital partner.
Members or dependants are advised to bring along documentation, South African ID documents for members and spouse where applicable, marriage certificate, SA ID or birth certificates for children of members, driver’s licence, deed of grant, proof of residence, tax clearance of a business where members or beneficiaries are in business and service certificate.
