Sensational operatic pop vocal group Il Divo will be in South Africa in February during their fourth world tour.
Made up of four male artists – French pop singer Sébastien Izambard, Spanish baritone Carlos Marín, American tenor David Miller, and Swiss tenor Urs Bühler – they will perform in both Cape Town and Johannesburg, at the Grand West Arena and Carnival City’s Big Top Arena, respectively.
This will be their biggest tour following their sold-out performance in Paraguay in front of more than 33000 people.
Formed in 2004 by reality TV guru Simon Cowell after a worldwide talent search, Il Divo has since collected an impressive array of accomplishments, nominations and awards.
The awards include worldwide sales of 26-million albums and over 150 gold and platinum awards, in 33 countries.
Last year they were named artist of the decade at the Classic Brits Awards ceremony.
The tour promises to incorporate a visual and musical mix of fan favourites as well as renditions of popular songs from their new album.
In keeping with Il Divo’s multinational identity, they will perform in English, Italian, Spanish, French and even Latin. Their latest album, Wicked Game, was launched in November.
Il Divo’s agent John Giddings said: “Il Divo have launched onto the world stage on a scale matched by only a couple of other new acts globally over the past few years.
“This is a tribute to the guys and their incredible talent but also a sign of people all over the world embracing their music and the style of show they deliver,” Giddings said.
Their first four albums, Il Divo, Ancora, Siempre and The Promise, have achieved 50 number one album chart positions internationally.
Tickets for the Il Divo and Orchestra in Concert world tour are available from Computicket.
