Rustenburg police are on the lookout for four men who bombed two Absa ATMs and fled with an undisclosed amount of money last Thursday.
Police said the suspects fled in a white Ford Focus after bombing ATMs at the Geelhout Spar shopping complex.
The suspects were earlier seen at a filling station near the complex. They returned later and one of the suspects, armed with a rifle, held the garage staff hostage.
The suspects’ vehicle then proceeded to the complex towards the ATMs and the other two men also came out of the vehicle with a bag carrying explosives.
A resident from a block of flats next to the complex heard the explosions and went to investigate. The suspects fired several shots, forcing him to flee.
