The man claimed to have organised Julius Malema’s London trip is believed to be a dodgy go-between character of Zambian decent who spent a considerable time in Zimbabwe’s second biggest city, Bulawayo, before relocating to England, according to sources in the UK.
Conrad Mwanza is into entertainment, started doing the Miss Southern Africa beauty pageant, then tried a hand at trying to organise a southern Africa festival. He has since moved on to organising something called Zimachievers.
Mwanza also runs something called Zimbabwe Business Network and he has what is called Zimawards UK.
Sources in London, who declined to be named, said Mwanza did not have the financial muscle to finance the luxurious trip of former ANC Youth League president Julius Malema.
“I understand he was asked by some South Africans here, to front this thing so that their fingerprints are not on it,” said a source.
“Conrad (Mwanza) is (also helping) to organise some networking event later tonight.”
Malema was the event’s guest speaker for which patrons paid £20 (R260) to attend.
Mwanza recently invited the former president of the Zanu-PF-linked Affirmative Action Group (AAG), Supa Mandiwanzira, to the UK. The AAG has been leading the voice of black economy empowerment in Zimbabwe.
