The DA says the province is losing the fight against rhino poachers, after the discovery of six more carcasses in northern KwaZulu-Natal this week.
The number of the animals slaughtered this year in the province is now 46. KZN Ezemvelo Wildlife says four of the carcasses were poached in Hluhluwe.
They were discovered last weekend but the slaughter is believed to have taken place weeks ago.
The DA’s Radley Keys saysthe province is losing the battle. “Ezemvelo does not seem to have a handle on poaching in its reserves. When carcasses are found three weeks after the fact, patrols are either not being done properly or not being done at all. If funding is needed, it must be made available.”
He has also called on Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife boss Bandile Mkhize to call on an urgent meeting to discuss the rhino poaching crisis.
