Renowned gospel group MTN Joyous Celebration did not disappoint its thousands of supporters when the group performed at the weekend in Randburg, north of Johannesburg.
The group performed and recorded its 17th live DVD/CD project at the Rhema Ministries Auditorium. The recordings will be realised next year.
More than 7000 fans attended the sold-out event.
Prominent American R&B singer Kenny Lattimore performed a song with the group together with South Africa’s Idols latest winner, Khaya Mthethwa, who used to be part of the group.
“It was a breathtaking music experience. I’ve attended so many music shows in my life but this was amazing,” said Lukho Mkhize who attended the Saturday event.
“The music was soulful and the lyrics bring hope to the hopeless.
“It was my first Joyous experience and I can say it won’t be the last one.”
Mkhize was not the only gobsmacked fan at the event.
“This was my third time attending a Joyous Celebration music concert and I must say I was blessed beyond measure.
“It was such a wonderful way of closing 2012 for me and am looking forward to the DVD next year,” Zoyi Situ said.
Social media were also abuzz. “You guys never disappoint, singin...?Baleka ngenyawo zombini,” said Nyandeni þ@Mnathero on Twitter.
LufunoM said on Twitter: “like I don’t believe I saw Kenny Lattimore, yoh. I am still surprised.”
The three founders of the group, Lindelani Mkhize, Jabu Hlongwana and Mthunzi Namba performed a song together.
Mthethwa was not the only ex-Joyous member to raise the roof at the venue. Nobathembu Mabheka from the Eastern Cape also rendered a solo performance of a song which was a hit with the audience.
