Soul singer, Lionel Richie decided to spoil himself this Christmas by splashing out on seven Mercedes cars for himself.

The 63-year-old father of three says he had a ‘Pretty woman’ experience when buying the vehicles as the salesman didn’t recognise him.

’I decided to buy myself a Mercedes - or two! In blue jeans and T-shirt, I walked into a Montgomery, Alabama, dealership and said, ‘I’ll buy seven Mercedes,’ he told the New York Post.

“Staring, the guy asked, 'Son, you got some proof?' I had him call LA's Bank of America president. He hung up and segued from 'Son' to, 'Mr. Richie, right this way, please,' '' the singer said.

However the ‘all night long’ singer might have to sell one of the cars to settle his debt soon as website TMZ reported earlier in the year that he owed more $1 million in unpaid taxes.

The IRS reportedly hit the “Dancing on the Ceiling” singer with a lien over unpaid income tax for 2010, and documents obtained by TMZ showed that owed $1,130,609.

At the time it was reported that his property would be repossessed if he failed to pay the bill.
