World record holder Richard Levi will be part of to the Nashua Mobile Cobras squad that will take on the The New Age Impi at Sahara Willowmoore Park in Benoni tonight.
The 24 year old, who smashed 13 sixes for the Proteas when they crushed New Zealand by eight wickets in the second international T20, will be facing the Impi’s bowlers for the first time this evening.
The fireworks will start at 6pm and, in addition to massive boundary clearances, the Impi cheerleaders will ensure that the action is non-stop.
Coach Vincent Barnes said that despite being at the bottom of the log after six consecutive defeats, the team would not give up without a fight.
Bowlers like Siya Simetu, who has opened for the Impi in several matches, will again be aiming to keep it tight with the new ball and new recruit Quinton Friend will want to follow up on his impressive Impi debut against the Warriors. Also, look out for Ryan Canning who has been in great shape.
Barnes said that the squad for today’s match would not change much, although he might be tempted to make a few tactical changes.
Should the team born last month manage to show greater consistency in the field and build more than one respectable partnership with the bat, they have more than a good chance of ending their winless drought.
