The case against kwaito veteran Arthur Mafokate has been postponed to 19 January due to a pending decision by the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA).
Mafokate, who appeared briefly in the Midrand Magistrate’s Court this morning, is facing assault charges.
In June, Mafokate’s ex-girlfriend and musician Busisiwe (Cici) Twala opened a case against him after he allegedly dragged her through the streets with his car, causing her to undergo a pelvic replacement operation.
Twala said she may not be able to have children after she was strangled and dragged on a hard surface by Mafokate in two separate domestic violence incidents.
The Not In My Name organisation has during Mafokate’s court appearances called for men to speak out against gender-based violence.
Organisation member Themba Masango said: “We want Arthur to plead guilty, like former deputy minister of higher education Mduduzi Manana and accept responsibility.”
