A protest broke out at the Bronkhorstspruit Magistrate’s court on Tuesday after two men who allegedly assaulted and shot a 10-year-old girl was postponed to March 2018.
Farmer Johannes Potgieter and Hendrick Dumas are accused of assault, kidnapping and attempted murder.
The duo allegedly handcuffed the child to a tree before assaulting her. However, the accused have denied any wrongdoing.
The protesters became angry because the accused were initially denied bail and were later granted bail by the court.
The community has come out to express their dissatisfaction with the court.
The chief of Bronkhorstspruit SK Mahlangu said that the community is not happy with the decision that the court made.
“As the leaders of the community we will go to the court where they were granted bail and request the authorities to reverse the bail and detain the pair until the court date in March 2018,” said Mahlangu.
