KAIZER Chiefs need to end their run of four successive draws when they meet Chippa United in the PSL match at Nelson Mandela Bay stadium tonight.

The last time Chiefs recorded a league victory was on October 17 when they edged Mamelodi Sundowns 2-1 in Pretoria. Since then, they have recorded draws against Orlando Pirates, Polokwane City, Free State Stars and AmaZulu. And they want to avoid another draw tonight against Chippa, a side they defeated 1-0 in the Telkom Knockout quarterfinal.

Chiefs striker Bernard Parker said their focus now is to finish the year on a high note by winning their last three fixtures on the calendar, starting with the Chili Boys, Platinum Stars and Ajax Cape Town.

“Chippa are coming up, we know what to expect having played them a few weeks ago,” Parker said. “Our focus now is to end the year on a high and collect maximum points in our last three games. “The way the game ended last time Chippa were not at all happy. The whole team including the coach will come out as strong as they can.

“It’s going to be a more emotional game for them. It is for us to stay calm and do our thing.” Parker will also be looking to find the back of the net as he hasn’t scored since Amakhosi beat Sundowns 2-1 in October and will be desperate to end that goal drought tonight.

Meanwhile, Chiefs coach Steve Komphela admitted that his side cannot afford another draw if they are to finish the year on a high note. Chiefs have racked up seven draws from 12 matches in the league with three wins.

“Nobody would want to get two out of six, we would have loved to get six out of six and before the beginning of the Free State Stars match we were gunning for at least four points,” Komphela said.

“Now there is nothing else to do, going forward we jhave to keep on digging and fighting and get those three points.” While Chiefs have been tight enough at the back, Komphela’s concern is finding the back of the net – with his side having scor ed only once in their four draws, against Free State Stars.
