DA leader Mmusi Maimane and the party’s leadership will today visit Zulu King Goodwill Zwelithini at Osuthu Royal Palace in Nongoma.

Maimane will be joined by the party’s Federal Chairperson Athol Trollip, Deputy Chairperson Thomas Walters, DA MP Thandeka Mbabama and the newly elected leadership in KwaZulu-Natal.

On Saturday, Zwakele Mncwango was re-elected as provincial chairperson in a hotly contested elective conference hosted at the Olive Convention Centre in Durban while Mervin Chetty was chosen as his deputy.

Member of the Provincial Legislature Francois Rodgers was elected provincial chairperson while Hlengiwe Shozi, Craig Millar, Shehan Kajee were all chosen as his deputies.

DA spokesperson Portia Adams said the reason for the visit is to introduce the newly elected leadership to King Zwelithini.

“We are paying a courtesy visit to the king. We do not have any particular agenda per se,” Adams said.
