The eThekwini municipality has warned Durban residents that strong gale force winds and heavy rainfall are expected to hit the city today.
According to the municipality, residents should brace themselves for two cold fronts which are approaching the city and are expected to reach the city today.
” The cold fronts are expected to pass out to sea on the south of the province. Associated with these are strong winds which will travel at approximately 58 kilometres per hour,” said the municipality.
The latest warning comes just days after eight people died in KwaZulu-Natal after a storm wreaked havoc in parts of the province on Tuesday.
A mother and her daughter died when the Prince Mshiyeni Memorial Hospital in Umlazi wall collapsed on them while on their way out of the hospital.
The massive storm which had wind speeds in excess of 70 kilometres per hour caused massive damage across the province.
Five hospitals namely “King Edward, Addington, King Dinuzulu, Wentworth and Prince Mshiyeni Memorial were damaged by the storm.
