With the cold front approaching Gauteng province, emergency services are responding to different fires around the country.
Three people including a one-year-old baby died in shack fires which left thousands homeless in Gauteng at the weekend.
EMS spokesperson Robert Mulaudzi said the fire gutted down 120 shacks, claimed the life of a one-year-old child who succumbed to smoke inhalation burns all over the body and left more than 1000 people displaced.
“The cause of the fire is unknown at this stage and our fire investigation team will determine the cause of the fire,” Mulaudzi said.
Mulaudzi urged residents to be cautious this weekend as the cold front rolls in to most parts of Gauteng warning them to be vigilant when using heating devices and refrain from using dangerous make-shift heaters.
