A 56-year-old Department of Higher Education Centre Manager was on Thursday served with a summons to appear at the Modimolle Regional Court on the June 7 for alleged corruption.
This comes after the suspect allegedly claimed to be a recruitment officer and fraudulently took R2500 from a job seeker in exchange for a job which never materialised.
Police Regional spokesperson Captain Matimba Maluleka said that this scam was reported to the Serious Commercial Corruption Investigation Unit whose investigation led to the arrest of the suspect this week.
Meanwhile, the Serious Commercial Crime Investigation Unit has served summons to a 38-year former Eskom manager in Bela Bela for allegedly defrauding the power utility about R450 000.
Maluleka said that in 2015, Eskom entrusted the suspect with a task of distributing new transformers in exchange for old ones.
“Instead of taking back the old transformers, the suspect allegedly sold some without the knowledge and consent of her supervisor.”
The suspect is also expected to appear on the on ,June 7, at the Bela Bela Magistrate court on charges of fraud.
