Police probe death of Mahikeng educator after decomposed body found


The Mahikeng police are investigating a case of murder and kidnapping of Thulisile Ngwenya.

Ngwenya, 56, decomposed body was found in the bushes near Lorwaneng village on Wednesday.

Investigating Officer, Lieutenant Colonel Maqandela said the discovery by a shepherd follows a missing person inquiry that was opened for investigation after was reported missing on Sunday, 22 October 2017.

“Ngwenya who was an educator at Lekoko Primary School outside Mahikeng was last seen on the morning of Saturday while going to one of the banks in Mahikeng,” said Maqandela.

It is alleged her vehicle, a Mazda CX3 was found parked near Mahikeng taxi rank.

The North West Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Baile Motswenyane condemned the incident and all acts of violence against women and children.

“It cannot be normal when women and children are still kidnapped and killed. The matter will get necessary attention to ensure that those who are responsible are brought to book,” said Motswenyane.
