SGB members in court for theft of learners food

Chairperson of the School Governing Body (SGB) of Nellmapius Primary School will on Friday appear at the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court on theft allegations.

It is alleged that the chairperson together with an SGB Member, a CPF Member, and three General Assistants forcibly gained access to the school on Thursday and stole school nutrition and stationery.

The police were called to the scene and found the alleged perpetrators in possession of stolen goods as such, they were all arrested.

Gauteng MEC for Education Panyaza Lesufi stated that as the department they are concerned that people who are supposed to assist the school are the ones who are implicated in theft.

“I will request the HOD to investigate the SGB of this school and to probably issue a notice to disband them,” he said.

Lesufi added that as the department they are committed to upholding values of integrity and accountability and as such we will ensure that everyone in the schooling environment must subscribe to high ethical standards.
