Two men nabbed with R1.1 million worth of Dagga are due to appear that the George Magistrate’s court on Friday.
The suspects aged 51 and 57 from Port Elizabeth were arrested on Wednesday by the Hawks’ Serious Organised Crime unit.
Captain Lloyd Ramovha said that the two were arrested after the Hawks followed up information of a vehicle suspected to be transporting cannabis.
“Whilst monitoring the R62 road between Uniondale and Joubertinia, the team spotted a van towing a trailer.
“The vehicle was stopped and searched resulting in the discovery of over 23 bags of dagga weighing approximately 825kg.”
The pair’s vehicle was then impounded.
