Roxette adds a fourth date to South African tour
Popular Swedish duo Roxette has announced a fourth date when they perform in South Africa in May.
The “How Do You Do” band are set to perform in the country as part of their world tour and have added an extra date to perform at Sun City after their two concerts at the resort quickly sold out.
Roxette fans can now catch them live at the Sun City Superbowl on May 17 too.
The group has remained popular despite having taken a 10-year break. Duo Marie Fredriksson and Per Gessle enjoyed huge success in the late ’80s and early ’90s with hits like the “She’s Got The Look”, “Joyride” and “Dressed For Success”. They had 33 chart-topping singles and record sales exceeding 75 million.
In 2002, during a break from recording, Fredriksson was diagnosed with a brain tumour. She underwent surgery and endured months of radiation and chemotherapy. She lost the sight in her right eye as a result.
The two last performed in South Africa in the early ’90s. Their last scheduled trip was cancelled because of the terrorist attacks in the US in 2001.
They will perform at Cape Town’s Grand Arena on May 8 before heading to Sun City’s Superbowl to perform on May 14, 15 and 17.
